The Redeemers

"Fire purifies. Salt preserves. Iron binds."
Religious

When the monsters rose, the Church broke. From the ashes of the old faiths rose the Redeemers, a militant order of zealots dedicated to holding back the dark. They are the ones who patrol the settlements at night, burning the dead to prevent them from rising. They are the ones who hunt down the Fen-Wraiths and the Hollow Men.

But their protection comes with terror. The Redeemers believe that Psionics — the very power some use to survive — is a corruption of the soul. They hunt “Witches” and “Devils” with equal fervor. To a Redeemer, a Psy-Slinger is just a demon that hasn’t turned yet. They carry flamethrowers and shotguns loaded with rock salt, and they do not believe in innocence, only in degrees of guilt.

Leadership

Led by Grand Inquisitor Silas Vane, a man who supposedly walked through the Ash Belt without water for forty days and returned with eyes of white fire. No one knows what Vane found in the ash. He does not speak of it. He only speaks of what must be done.

Agenda

The complete eradication of the Veil’s influence. This includes burning anyone who shows signs of “The Touch” (Psionic potential).

Archetypes

The Inquisitor. The Preacher. The Witch-Hunter. The Medic.

The Horror of the Redeemers

The Redeemers are not mindless fanatics — or at least, most of them aren’t. Many genuinely believe they are protecting humanity. The Acolytes are often frightened teenagers who watched the Veil take their families. The Purifiers are veterans who have seen what happens when a Psionic loses control. The tragedy of the Redeemers is that they are sometimes right — and that rightness fuels atrocities.

Faction Tactics

Redeemers fight with zealous aggression and total commitment. They advance in pairs — Purifiers flush targets with fire while Acolytes close with salt and torches. They target Psionics first, always. Their Inquisitors are terrifyingly effective at identifying and suppressing supernatural threats, and their faith gives them genuine resistance to psionic intrusion. The Redeemers do not retreat. They do not negotiate. They purify.
