Notes: Preservation Tank: Rhun's body is suspended in amber fluid inside a reinforced glass-and-iron tank. The tank must be destroyed (24 HP, AR 4) to reach Rhun directly. ECHO 5, Channel 5. Knows all Seer Talents at Rank 4 and below, plus The Rewind (R5 Miracle). Has lost 3 of his 5 Memories — exists in serene incompleteness.

The oldest living Seer on the Frontier — and possibly the oldest living human, though no one can verify this because no one remembers when he was born, including Rhun himself. He exists in a preservation tank deep beneath the Lodge at Palomera, suspended in a viscous amber fluid that slows his body’s decay while his mind ranges across the Silver Thread of possible futures.

Rhun no longer speaks aloud. His vocal cords atrophied decades ago. He communicates telepathically, his thoughts arriving in your mind like memories you didn’t make: fully formed, slightly melancholy, and carrying the faint taste of honey and ash.

He is the most powerful Psionic known to be alive, and he is dying. Slowly, the amber fluid is losing its potency. The Circle searches desperately for a way to sustain him — or for someone to inherit his visions before the Thread goes dark.

Psionics (ECHO 5, Channel 5)

  • All Seer Talents at Rank 4 and below.
  • The Rewind (R5 Miracle): Reset the scene by 10 seconds. Only Rhun remembers what happened. All other participants experience déjà vu but cannot explain it. Cost: 1 Memory (burned).

Traits

  • Preservation Tank: Rhun’s body is suspended in amber fluid inside a reinforced glass-and-iron tank. The tank must be destroyed (24 HP, AR 4) to reach Rhun directly. Rhun inside the tank has only 10 HP and 0 AR.
  • Telepathic Communication: Speaks directly into minds within Far range. No language barrier. No need for line of sight — if he knows you’re there, he can reach you.
  • Web of Fate: Rhun has seen the moment of his death. He cannot be killed before that moment arrives (the GM determines when). Any attack that would kill him before the appointed time automatically misses, deals minimum damage, or is deflected by an improbable coincidence. Functionally immortal — until it isn’t.

Abilities

  • Future Echo (1/scene): Rhun declares that a PC’s action fails before they roll. The action automatically fails with a Margin of −1 (Near Miss). The PC experiences the failure as an overwhelming sense of wrongness. Rhun uses this only to prevent outcomes that would damage the Circle.
  • Thread Cascade (1/scene): Rhun grants all allies within Near range +3 dice to their next roll. He does this by showing them, for a fraction of a second, the version of reality where they succeed. Costs him 2 Strain and a nosebleed.

Tactics

Rhun never fights. Fighting is for people with futures. He is protected by Guardians, Archivists, and the architectural defenses of Palomera. If the Lodge is breached, he uses Future Echo to prevent killing blows against key defenders, Thread Cascade to empower his protectors, and Telekinetic Crush only as a last resort. If his tank is breached, he activates The Rewind — and in those ten rewound seconds, his Guardians act on his telepathic warning to prevent whatever caused the breach.

Morale

Irrelevant. Rhun is beyond fear. He is waiting for his appointment.
