Mayor Krell is a retired Ironbrand who runs Greystone like a military base. He wears a partial Hardsuit at all times — the brand on his forearm and the iron plates on his shoulders are simultaneously a calling card and an enforcement mechanism. Greystone’s defenses follow Ironbrand doctrine; the guard rotations are scheduled in contracted shifts; the filter system at the cliff base is the kind of pre-planned exit strategy the guild trains in.

He is not currently under Ironbrand contract, but he is still branded, and that brand never expires.

Tactics

Krell commands the High-Rock defense personally during incursions. His Elite Pool of 7 reflects continued combat training rather than the diminished readiness common in “retired” mercenaries. His preference is the same as the guild’s: fire-and-maneuver, pre-planned retreat routes, overlapping fields of fire. The town has practiced the drills.

Plot Anchor

The “Sabotage” plot hook (winch cable snaps, sandstorm and Ashborn army approaching) lands on Krell. His response defines the encounter — and his decision-making under that pressure is the GM’s window into whether he’s still the soldier he was or has softened into the mayor he plays at.
