Progression
Veil Bleed Stages
The four-stage progression of Erosion symptoms. Each stage worsens mechanically and roleplay-wise as Erosion accumulates.
| Erosion | Stage | Symptoms | Mechanical Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–2 | Tremor | Headaches behind the eyes. Nosebleeds after channeling. A fine tremor in the hands that won't quite stop. Difficulty sleeping — or sleeping too much, plagued by strange dreams. | None. Symptoms are visible but non-penalizing. |
| 3–4 | Flicker | Hallucinations at peripheral vision. Shadows that move wrong. Déjà vu that lasts minutes. Whispers in mirrors. Occasionally losing seconds of time. | −2 dice to Awareness checks. |
| 5–6 | Scarring | Memory gaps — names, conversations, recent days (not Core Memories). Emotional blunting or unexpected outbursts. The sense of being watched. | −2 dice to social checks. |
| 7+ | Threshold | Significant personality changes. Difficulty separating memory from hallucination. Reflections that don't match movement. | −3 dice to Awareness AND social checks. |
| Full | Break | The Memory burns. Track resets to 0. One Pillar of the Memory Palace is gone forever. | Lose one Core Memory permanently. If all five Memories are gone, the character becomes Hollow. |
The Bleed is what others see. Erosion is the number on the sheet, but Veil Bleed is the trembling hand at the bar, the eyes that don’t quite track, the moment the Sheriff stops trusting your testimony.
