XP Awards

All XP-granting events, merged across session-end awards, milestones, and special awards.

Type Award XP Trigger
Session Survival 1 The character is alive at session end.
Session The Struggle 1 Overcame a significant threat (combat, social, environmental).
Session The Discovery 1 Learned a secret about the Veil, Factions, or history.
Session The Flaw 1 A player voluntarily complicated the scene due to their Tragedy, Secret, or bond. Nomination-based.
Session The Lesson 1 A player suffered a critical failure or major setback.
Session The Burden (Psionic only) +1 Used Rank 3+ abilities AND suffered meaningful narrative consequences (visions, stigma, Erosion, Memory burn).
Milestone Arc Completion 5 Resolved a major storyline.
Milestone Nemesis Defeated 3 Killed or neutralized a recurring enemy.
Milestone Faction Shift 2 Significantly changed standing with a Power.
Milestone Memory Forged / Hardened 2 Created a Scar Memory through play, or filled an empty Memory slot.

Reward dramatic choices over optimal play. The Flaw Award is the most important XP source in the game; it’s the only one that explicitly rewards making your character worse at winning fights.
