Disrupted
Effect: Your Channeling fails immediately. The Talent's Cost is spent (Strain/Erosion/Memory). You take 1 additional Strain from feedback.
Inflicted By
- Taking any damage while in the Open State, then failing the Focus check (ECHO + Focus vs. TN 8 + damage taken)
- Being hit by a Salt Round while in the Open State (automatic, with no Focus check allowed)
- Being doused in rock salt while in the Open State (automatic, with no Focus check allowed)
- Disrupt (Bastion Soul R1), a Reaction that interferes psychically without dealing damage
- Other Salt-based or anti-Psionic effects targeting an Open Psionic
Cleared By
- Resolves immediately. There is no 'cleared' state; the Talent simply fails
- Cost is not refunded (Strain/Erosion/Memory already paid is gone)
Disrupted is the consequence of breaking concentration during the Open State. Unlike most conditions, it doesn’t linger; it resolves the moment it occurs by canceling the in-progress Channel. The Talent fails, the Cost is spent regardless, and the caster takes +1 Strain of feedback on top of whatever caused the disruption in the first place.
The Focus check formula is ECHO + Focus vs. TN 8 + damage taken. Wounded (−1 die) and other penalties stack. The Veil Anchor item provides +2 Roll Bonus to this check. A determined Psionic with high Focus can shrug off small hits and keep channeling, but any Salt-based disruption (Salt Rounds, Salt Pouches, rock salt) bypasses the check entirely.
Disrupt (the Bastion Soul Cantrip) is the rare exception that causes Disruption without physical damage: a Reaction that hits Close-range casters with a psychic interference pulse, forcing the same Focus check at TN 11.
(See the Open State condition and keyword for the underlying vulnerability, and the Backlash keyword for the related but distinct Bleed-Die-1s mechanic.)
