Traits
- Purity of Purpose: Immune to Mindweaver Talents Rank 2 and below. +2 to resist Rank 3+.
- Smell the Witch: Can sense anyone with Erosion 3+ within Near range. Passive — requires no roll. The Inquisitor simply *knows.* They describe it as 'the scent of brimstone and spoiled milk.'
Abilities
- The Sermon (Tempo 4): The Inquisitor speaks a verse of condemnation. Target must roll SWAY + Resilience vs. the Inquisitor's ECHO (treat as TN 12) or become Suppressed by guilt and spiritual doubt. This works on anyone — even the innocent — because guilt is universal.
- Mark the Witch (Tempo 3): Designate one target as 'condemned.' All Redeemers within earshot gain +1 die against that target for the rest of the scene.
Witch-hunters with eyes like burning coals and voices that cut through panic like a sermon through silence. Inquisitors are the Redeemers’ elite — part detective, part executioner, part priest. They can smell Erosion on a person the way a bloodhound smells fear, and they have spent years studying the Current so they can destroy those who use it.
An Inquisitor never travels alone. They are always accompanied by at least two Purifiers, and often a squad of Acolytes for “witness duty” — because every burning needs witnesses to spread the word.
Gear: Boiler Plate (AR 1, Hardened), Holy Vestments (+2 Mental Defense), Salt Grenades ×2, journal of confessions, iron manacles. Speed 7.
Tactics
Identify the Psionic using Smell the Witch. Mark them. Use The Sermon to suppress them. Coordinate Purifiers for the kill. If no Psionics are present, the Inquisitor is a disciplined combatant who uses cover, aimed shots, and the Blessed Blade against Veil-Born. They are disturbingly competent.
Morale
Fanatic (−4). Inquisitors do not retreat. They have seen worse than you.
