Effect
Touch a target. You completely rewrite their identity. New name, new history, new personality, new loyalties.
The rewrite is deep — it replaces Core Memories with fabricated ones, adjusts emotional responses, and realigns priorities. The target genuinely becomes a different person.
Duration: Permanent. The original identity is destroyed, not suppressed.
Resist
ECHO + Focus vs. your Channeling Sum. On success, the Rewrite partially fails — the target gains the new identity but experiences disturbing “bleed-through” from the old one (dreams, phantom emotions, inexplicable skills).
Requirement
Reversal: Only another Miracle-level effect can undo a Rewrite. The original identity may be gone forever — or it may be buried, waiting.
Special
This is the nuclear option of mental manipulation. It is the reason Mindweavers are hunted, feared, and killed on sight by the Redeemers. Creating a new person from the shell of the old one is, by any moral framework, murder.
The Unbreaking (BS R5) can restore a Psionically damaged mind — at Miracle tier, the two effects exist in a precarious balance. A Bastion Soul who reaches a Rewrite target in time can sometimes pull them back. Sometimes.
